Patient Safety and Managerial Malpractice

 

Unidentified sources reported that Dr. Joshua Caliban, world-renowned surgeon, founding father and CEO of Care Corporation of America (C.C.A.), the fifth largest health care provider in the nation, called a closed doors meeting late yesterday afternoon. All of the power brokers of Chicago ’s legal, business, health care and insurance industries were in attendance.

While the media lined up outside C.C.A.’s board room door sounding like vultures cackling in anticipation, a heated discussion was taking place focused on C.C.A.’s accountability in the death of a patient. Just before a deadly silence seemed to envelop the board room, Dr. Caliban’s voice was heard booming above the rising din: “Unless you all agree to accept my proposal, at 5:30 today, Care Corporation of America will be entering a plea of guilty as charged of managerial malpractice in the death of a patient.”
